|May Chidiac makes comeback on LBC
|Journalist vows to return to her audience soon
Lebanese Broadcasting Corporation's leading journalist May Chidiac promised to return to her audience as soon as she regains power to move freely and with sufficient autonomy. Chidiac appeared on the LBC screen for the first time since the assassination attempt on her life on September 25, almost 60 days ago. With much courage and a smile on her face, Chidiac described the day of the murder attempt.
She said she entered her Range Rover and turned to the back seat to put some things - blessed water and a picture of St. Charbil - in order, when someone "pressed a button" and detonated a bomb in her vehicle.
Chidiac said: "In a split second, I flew to the back seat."
Realizing that she had lost a hand, she tried to exit her car, creeping out of the vehicle unaware that she had also lost a leg.
"You cannot imagine how hard that moment was," she said, adding that she lost track of time for one week, before she regained memory of the incident.
Chidiac said she was proud to have sacrificed a hand and a leg for a country which she loved so dearly and refused to leave.
"I will never forget the LBC president and director general Pierre Daher, who would exert all efforts to help any member of the corporation," she added.
Addressing the perpetrators, Chidiac said she will never abandon her job and promised to return as soon as prosthetic limbs are made for her.
"I miss you and it won't be long before we meet again; thank you very much,"she concluded.
