|Downtown Beirut, a success
|The one who didn't come to Beirut for a few months and who has heard for several years Beyrouthins praising the past glory of the Lebanese capital, going out in the town centre one of these evenings is essential.
The country made a significant effort these past years to give the town centre the beauty it enjoyed in the past, and it seems that this effort wasn'tin vain.
Several thousands of people are gathering this space and are having a walk in the streets which have been renewed while preserving their ancient style. One crosses here the tourists from the Arab world, Europeans and of course Lebanese, all sharing the pleasure to have a drink or a coffe on one of the numerous terraces.
These days Yann Arthus Bertrand's picture exposition "The Earth seen from the sky" is featured in the city center. It was difficult to foresee that such a phenomenon would occur in Beirut only one year ago when it was still in the process of completion.
With the marinas, the parks, pedestrian areas still to come, it is allowed of forecast a worthy future for the Lebanese capital, the smile of the tourism professionals are there to back this evidence.
