Under the patronage of His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Middle East Technology Show (METS) 2001, now into its twelfth year, was opened on Tuesday by Dr. Fawaz Al Zu'bi, Minister of Post & Communications.
This year's show is well prepared and includes a large number of participants.
The organizer, the Jordan Computer Society (JCS), is to be congratulated on its success in attracting hardware, software, Internet, telecommunications and computer supply companies all of whom make this year's show bigger and more exciting.
The show reflects developments in Jordan's information technology market. Whether it's consumer or corporate IT products you're looking for, METS '01 has it all.
Traditionally, this exhibition has been a 'launch' pad for new products introduced to the Jordanian public. This year is no different with every gadget and technology tool imaginable. The strong presence of telecommunications companies is obvious, showcasing the convergence of computing and telecoms. METS is quite a 'digital' celebration. The Internet Service Providers and other Internet service companies add a 'new tech' feel to the show and reaffirm that Jordan's 'net-mania' is still going strong.
A number of creative ideas have been introduced, one of which is a special booth displaying 'old technologies' which include computers and accessories from the seventies and eighties.
There are also daily raffles and competitions to win all sorts of computer equipment.
METS is a great place to shop for deals on PCs, software, peripherals and all things related to computers. The shoppers area of the hall is 'buzzing' with buyers and sellers. Corporate solutiuons are also on show, in the section of the hall allocated to bigger computer companies. All in all, METS 2001 shouldn't be missed. The show runs until Saturday 27 October. The sponsors of METS '01 are Jordan Telecom, MobileCom, Global One, Aramex, Daleel, Ad-Dustour and Primus.
