2009 a good year for Beirut
Statistics from Beirut International Airport (BIA) shows that the numbers of passengers (arrival, departure and transit) have reached 4.55 million for 2009 showing and improvement of 24.3 % in comparison with last year’s numbers. |

The report cited by Lebanon This Week from the Byblos Bank, also show a total of 52 152 flight this year. On a different note the MEA the Lebanese airline company, has reelected its president Mohammad El Hout. The company has seen a growth of 28.4 % on an annual basis.
The bank report also shows that the occupancy rate have risen to 71 % for the first 9 months of 2009. The study made by Ernst and Young’s benchmark survey, explain that occupancy rate in Beirut was the 7th highest on a study made on 21 market in the Middle East.
Figures have shown that Beirut have seen the best progression in occupation rate in the region due to the fact she had the weakest rate for the first 9 months of 2008 caused by the political instability.
Furthermore revenues per room have for their part evolved for an average of 89$ to 162$ on an annual basis.
Beirut has finally received the 5th place on hotels performance for the first 9 months of 2009. She was evaluated on occupation rate, revenue per room in dollar, and progression in revenue per room in comparison with last year.
