Faculty of Engineering (FOE) -

The Faculty of Engineering offers quality-engineering education at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and provides a research and educational resource to Lebanon and the region.

At the University of Balamand, engineers are being prepared to meet the challenges of the new world. The programs are designed to culminate in a Bachelor of Science degree (three-year program) followed by a Master of Science degree (two-year program).
The BS program gives students basic theoretical and practical knowledge in Engineering Sciences and Design to practice their skills as engineers once they graduate, while the MS program adds specialization to the basic knowledge in order to make them well rounded persons capable of exercising sound judgment in their chosen area of expertise. This is accomplished through a strong educational system supported by the latest advances in technologies.

DEPARTMENTS
The Faculty of Engineering consists of four departments:

1. Department of Computer Engineering
This department provides students with a strong education that allows them to design, develop, and solve problems in various computer-based technologies. This education prepares the students to fully understand both hardware and software solutions and their tradeoffs in implementing the technical specifications for different kinds of applications, as well as the latest advances in the information and networking technologies. In the graduate program, and in addition to the General Computer Engineering option, the prospective student will choose one of the following options:
• Computer Hardware Engineering
• Information and Networks Engineering

2. Department of Electrical Engineering
This department provides students with strong skills for the development of technology, materials, and products that improve the quality of life. This preparation covers the generation and transmission of power, the control and utilization of natural and manmade resources, the development and communication of data, the design and use of medical instruments, and the intelligent use of computers in consumer appliances and industrial applications.
The undergraduate program provides students with a broad base of Electrical Engineering fundamentals during the first three years of study. In the graduate program, and in addition to a general Electrical Engineering option, the prospective student will choose one of the following options:
• Biomedical Engineering
• Control and Robotic Systems Engineering
• Power Engineering
• Telecommunication Systems Engineering

3. Department of Civil Engineering
This department provides students with a strong, broad-based education in the fields of structural engineering, bridges and highways, environmental engineering, offshore engineering, water resources engineering, and construction management engineering.
The program provides students with a broad base of Civil Engineering fundamentals during the first three years of study, and an opportunity to focus on a specific area of concentration during the senior year. In the graduate program, and in addition to the General Civil Engineering option, the prospective student will choose one of the following options:
• Environmental Engineering
• Structural Engineering
• Water Resources Engineering
• Offshore Engineering
• Construction Management Engineering

4. Department of Mechanical Engineering
This department provides students with strong theoretical and applied skills in the various fields of mechanical engineering. The students are prepared to work in various fields of Mechanical Engineering such as aeronautical, automotive, manufacturing systems, electromechanical, solar energy, biomechanics and many others.
The undergraduate program provides students with a broad base of Mechanical Engineering fundamentals during the first three years of study. In the graduate program, and in addition to a general Electrical Engineering option, the prospective student will choose one of the following options:
• Electromechanical Engineering
• Aerospace Engineering
• Industrial Engineering
• Structures and Materials Engineering
• Thermal Sciences Engineering
